Indian Alliance for Public Health Preparedness
About the Alliance
The Indian Alliance for Public Health Preparedness is India’s first, multi-sectoral collaboration that provides a platform of diverse stakeholders for policy shaping, research, and knowledge sharing for environmental surveillance as a tool for public health preparedness.
By centering health equity in urban cities, the Alliance aims to bring the discourse and effectiveness of environmental surveillance to the state and national level public health system for evidence-based decision-making. The Alliance builds on efforts in Environmental surveillance in relation to pathogenic infectious diseases, illicit opioid use, antimicrobial resistance, and the role of open-source data.
The Alliance is currently anchored by Precision Health Platform, a public health preparedness platform that caters to the marginalized through comprehensive, decentralized disease surveillance systems and intelligence gathering through community participation, geospatial analysis, and other tools.
Who are we?
The Precision Health platform is a joint effort of individuals and organizations under the umbrella of #COVIDActionCollab. This is an environmental surveillance platform that aims to promote systematic wastewater surveillance and other environmental surveillance tools for early detection and prevention of disease outbreaks by creating an early warning system.
Environmental (wastewater) surveillance is the most underutilized tool, with utilization for polio and now limited COVID surveillance. With the interest in environmental surveillance as a public health tool, ignited by the COVID pandemic, we’d like to use this momentum gained.
